Finding Your Ideal Coffee Table
September 17th, 2015
Located right in the middle of the living room, your coffee table has to hold up to a lot of wear and tear. The perfect spot for your kids to color, your feet to rest and family game night to be held, the coffee table is an important centerpiece to the most-used room in your home. So how do you find the right coffee table for your home?
Use
Before you begin the search for your perfect coffee table, think about what you use your current version for. Is it decorated with your favorite books and a vase of flowers, or ornamented with the TV remote and a coloring book? Depending on your lifestyle, there are many different options to consider. From glass tabletops to upholstered options, there is a design that will suit your home and family.
Storage
Another thing to consider is storage. Whether you purchase an upholstered version that opens up or a coffee table with shelving below, these designs have space to place magazines, blankets and more. If your coffee table always feels cluttered, this might be the perfect solution to your problem.
Size and Space
Coffee tables are usually placed 18 inches from the sofa, providing just enough room to grab the remote, set down a glass or walk by. They are also usually an inch or two shorter than the surrounding furniture to make them easy to reach. Rectangular tables are a common option, but circular ones create extra space when placed at the center of a sectional. Measure your sofa and other furniture that will be placed nearby the coffee table to determine the height you would like it to be.
