Mixing Different Wood Washed FurnitureIf you are thinking about purchasing a new wooden coffee table and you’re worried about how it might look with current wooden furniture, don’t be! It is now acceptable, and encouraged, to have different washed wooden pieces.

If you’re planning on filling a room with different wooden washes, follow these simple suggestions that will help tie them all together:

Invest in a Focal Point

Having a variety of woods in one room can be easily done if you have one piece that serves as a focal point. Use a coffee table or entertainment center as a focal piece in a room with multiple wooden washes. The large piece will draw the attention to itself, pulling other wood pieces together. One large piece will distract from having a variety of other wooden washed pieces.

Choose a Favorite Wash

If there is a wooden wash that you really adore or seem to favor in your home, don’t be afraid to commit it. If you have several pieces of furniture or accessories in one specific wash, you can easily incorporate one or two other wooden washed pieces into the room without them looking out of place.

Distract with Accessories

Many people that have wooden floors face challenges when decorating with wooden washed pieces. If you have a really light washed wooden floor, you might be hesitant to purchase a dining room table that is a dark wash. However, if you place the table on an area rug, it will break up the difference washes. A rug is also an opportunity to showcase your personal style and bring some color into the space.

Incorporate a Color

If you really are nervous about the different washes inside of a room, decorate with several white or black pieces in order to bring some common colors in. A white room can have a variety of wooden washed pieces in it without coming across as overwhelming because it is so bright and neutral. Black accessories can also ground various wooden shades, drawing away from the fact that they are slightly different.
